There is a subtlety in the eyes that satisfies me as an artist. I think I did a good job capturing the feeling emanating from this beautiful long-haired tortoiseshell, I find it is easier said than done, so when I am able to do it, I feel encouraged. I often encourage guests to submit photos of their beloved pets because I enjoy painting them; and they seem to be a little bit more forgiving than peoples’ faces and family photos. But you can still tell when it’s nailed; good lighting, good framing, good expression, and the batter and colors were mixed just right. Today was a great day but this pancake stood out to me as something special.
