Spiderman

I made this while live on KTRS with James Enstall, who was interviewing both I and Jackie Price, owner of Fennel Cooking Studio, about our event Pancakes & Pajamas (to be held at Fennel on Sunday, August 9th from 12pm to 3pm). James asked me to make Hawk Girl and the Camp Rock 3 logo, as he was interviewing Maria Canals-Barrera who stars as/in both. Then I made a Fennel logo for Jackie. And while I was doing that, these two little kids (probably about 9 or 10 with brother and sister energy) were watching from the glass pane facing the mallway, and they had run away and then run back, and looked so curious about what I was making. So I tilted the Hawk Girl pancake towards them, and their faces lit up. I clocked the boy had a spiderman shirt on and thought, hey, I got the batter, I got the time (James still had a few minutes in his interview with Maria). I pulled a reference up and showed it to them, and gestured to the image, and to the griddle, and to the boy's shirt, and they got even more excited. I was so proud of myself that evening. I wanted to impress Jackie so she'd be excited for having pancake art classes at Fennel, and it was a very cute moment. In moments like these I am reminded that pancake art is literally magic.
